■ INTRODUCTION
DAYO Passwords is part of the DAYO series of Business Applications.
Its purpose is to provide DAYO users with a system of database security
through the use of passwords. Its use is optional, but recommended in areas
where more than one person has access to the data.
DAYO Passwords will keep 'selected' users out of any DAYO application or
menu option that you (the system/database manager), do not wish them to have
access to.
If DAYO Passwords are in use, all key transactions will contain the names
of the individuals responsible for that transaction.
Some of the current DAYO Products:
DAYO Inventory Inventory Control, Vendors, Purchasing, Receiving
DAYO POS Point of Sale
DAYO Quotes Point of Sales Quoting System
DAYO Price Books Special pricing for your customers as well as a wide
range of product/catalogs
DAYO AR Accounts Receivable
DAYO AP Accounts Payable
DAYO EOP End Of Period Posting
DAYO Smart Reports A variety of reports pertaining to the above modules

■ REQUIREMENTS ***
IBM or Compatible CPU
640K memory
* DOS 3.3 or above (Will NOT work well with earlier versions!)
Hard Disk
■ SETUP
To setup DAYO Passwords, you must run DAYOPAS.EXE while in the directory
containing the DAYO module you wish to password protect. You can copy
DAYOPAS.EXE into this directory, put it in the DOS PATH, or run from another
directory (ie: \DAYOINV\DAYOPAS ).
The first time DAYOPAS is run, it will create the passwords database
(dBase (tm) compatible), named DAYOPAS.CFG. In will contain two passwords;
the 'MASTER', and another for demonstration. The presence of this file
(DAYOPAS.CFG) signals the DAYO application being run in that directory to
require users to input a password.
DAYO Passwords, TJS LAB Page: 2
■ ENTERING THE PROGRAM, MASTER PASSWORD
To enter DAYOPAS, you must know the master password. Originally it is
'DAYO' (note the upper case). Change this to whatever you wish. It would be
little chance anyone would figure it out though, huh...

│└────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘│
└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
■ MAIN MENU
The main menu of DAYO Passwords is simply a 'browse' screen of the
passwords database (DAYOPAS.CFG). Note that the fields for the highlighted
record are displayed atop the screen. Also note that the password is
encrypted in the database (it is decrypted for the display atop the screen).

■ EDIT, CHANGING PASSWORDS
To edit any record, or change the password, highlight the record, then
press Enter/Return. Unlike other DAYO browse screens, DAYO Passwords does
not allow browse editing.
Type in any password using ONLY letters and/or numbers. DAYO Passwords
will encrypt the password before putting it in the database (DAYOPAS.CFG).
This simple encryption/decryption process will (hopefully), keep those
individuals with some knowledge of dBase (tm) from determining other users
passwords. The DAYO Passwords application will NOT keep dBase (tm) users out
of the databases.
■ EXCLUDING MENU OPTIONS
The fields EXCLUDE and PROGRAM work together to keep any of your users
out of specific menu options.
The default (when DAYO Passwords are being used), is to only prompt the
user for a password, but if the PROGRAM and EXCLUDE fields are used, that
user may not have access to one or more of the menu options displayed on the
main menu of the DAYO application he is currently running.
Remember that if you want a DAYO application to require users to input a
password, the database DAYOPAS.CFG must reside in the same directory as does
that DAYO application. The name of that DAYO application/program is typed
into the PROGRAM field.
To exclude a user from an option, simply put the number that corresponds
to the main menu option in the field EXCLUDE, ie:
EXCLUDE: 1,2,3
For DAYO Menu, which does not number its options, use 'M' to exclude the
Miscellaneous Routines, 'C' to exclude Configuration, and 'E' to exclude
exiting, ie:
EXCLUDE: M,C
Separation by using a comma is optional, just looks better...
DAYO Passwords, TJS LAB Page: 4
■ EXAMPLE OF EXCLUDE
To illustrate the use of EXCLUDE, take for instance, you have a user that
will only be doing receiving of inventory items. Note this is a menu option
of DAYO Inventory (DAYOINV.EXE). Also note that the main menu options are all
numbered.

will have access to all the main menu options.

╚════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

the PROGRAM field...
■ SUMMARY
The number of DAYO products increase weekly, but they all use, and will
continue to use DAYO Passwords. If increased security is required, then
special coding on the part of TJS LAB will be required to 'hide' those files
on your hard disk, as well as to 'fix' the DAYO databases from being
readable through dBase (tm) products. Other third party products can also be
acquired.
To keep your data from being erased, corrupted, stolen, or misused,
requires more than just DAYO Passwords alone. Remember that DAYO Passwords
is simply a tool to enhance your data security. It is not the ultimate
solution...

■ EXPANDED HELP
After Version 1.3, expanded help routines were added to all DAYO modules.
At almost all prompts and menus you can press F1 for help. Help can be a
function key message as displayed on previous page, a message that you have
created (user defined & inputted), or the ability to read the documentation
on the screen (saves paper).

■ USER DEFINED & INPUTTED HELP SCREENS/MESSAGES
If you press F1 and no user defined & inputted message exists for that
section of the program you are currently in you will receive a message to
this effect, and then a blank/empty screen.
The editing keys for this option are the same as for the Simple Editor
(previous page).

TJS LAB is an association of programmers and technicians that produce
customized, multiuser software for the PC based network (ie: Novell and
others). Our specialties include Inventory Control, PC Communications/EDI,
Management, Reports (standard and graphic), Data Conversions, and some
Accounting (A/R, A/P).
A unique feature of TJS LAB is that our software is by default, multiuser.
'Standalone' applications are the exception! All our applications are
written in Clipper, Basic, or C (preferably Basic or Clipper). We will
license all our application source codes. We produce applications that work,
are easy to use, and are inexpensive!
Want a change?
Want an enhancement!
Want a completely new product/application?
Want to make your idea a reality?
Custom/contract programming, by TJS LAB, and our associates is available.
Standard rate is $35.00 per hour (our sites). Guarantees for quality and
timely work is our number one rule ('Do it now, do it right, do it cheap!').
We make program enhancements/changes/fixes at our location(s), but can/do
make 'house calls' via special software and a modem.
